Ramiro Guillen, MD and Marilyn Pupo-Guillen, MD take pride in their comprehensive approach to practicing psychiatry. They see children, adolescents, and adults in their practice. They have a specialty in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and have been in private practice in Scottsdale since 2004. They use a developmental biopsychosocial model to guide their clinical work. This model integrates biological (e.g. genetics), psychological (e.g. self-concept), and sociological (e. g. family roles, cultures) aspects of individuals at different stages of their lives.

Their philosophy is to deliver the best medical care possible to each individual patient. This involves getting to know their patients and families by spending quality time with them in appointments. Our psychiatrist will prescribe medication (if indicated) and provide close follow-up appointments to ensure the patients are responding favorably to the medications with minimal-to-no side effects.

In addition to formal diagnosis, assessment, and medication management, therapeutic interventions and/or psychological testing may also be recommended. At times our doctors may be instituting one type of therapy, but may also recommend additional therapy to be implemented simultaneously with another clinician or therapist in order for the best treatment outcome. In these situations, our doctors will help individuals/families with appropriate referrals to best suit their needs. We work collaboratively by creating cooperative relationships with other physicians and psychologists. We do our best to assist individuals or families by referring to providers who accept their insurance.

Our commitment is to make the process as seamless as possible. With one call to our office, patients speak directly with our staff and are scheduled for an appointment to see one of our psychiatrists who are an in-network provider for them. Our goal is to make patients feel at ease by providing compassionate and thorough care. Our services include diagnostic evaluations, medication management, extended medication management, and individual psychotherapy.

Evaluation:

Prior to the psychiatric evaluation, you must complete the new patient packet provided to you. The evaluation process includes an initial telephone questionnaire with our staff, completion of the patient packet independently, then followed by a psychiatric evaluation by the psychiatrist.
